Halfway across the world, tennis star Naomi Osaka, who is of African American and Japanese descent, took home the Australian Open Women’s Singles title this past February. The road to championship glory was a tough one. Not only because of the pandemic and all the regulations that athletes had to adhere to, but also because Ms. Osaka had to go against tennis GOAT Serena Williams during the semi-finals.

This year’s Australian Open is the tennis champion’s fourth grand slam title. The current reigning champion of both the Australian and US Opens, she has achieved the world number 1 ranking from the Women’s Tennis Association. Outside of the tennis court, Ms. Osaka continues to make grand slams. Not only has she graced a coveted Vogue US cover, but among her many endorsements, she’s been most recently named as the brand ambassador for both Tag Heuer and Louis Vuitton.
